Happy Mother's Day

Today for Mother's Day, my husband and kids took me to Samy's camera.  Not exactly every mom's dream come true, but was definitely a dream come true for me!  Not only did I hang out in there
by. my. self.,  while my amazing SuperDad husband drove around the block over and over, I also got to spend a gift card my brother gave me almost 2 years ago.  With no one screaming or making a scene, nothing in the store being knocked over or slimed by two year old fingers,  I purchased the lovely 85mm 1.8. And then to top the trip off, I picked up a new flash, a new camera strap, and a filter to protect my lens from sticky licorice fingers.  Brian, helped me and he was the bomb.

From Samy's we headed out to Paramount Ranch, where I'll be shooting a wedding in just a few weeks.  I had my best ever models with me to try out a few spots for bridal family portraits and romantics of the bride and groom.  I tried out my new lens for the first time.

My girls jump into "lovey-dovey" action when I tell them that I am looking for a place to photograph a bride and groom.  The following images reflect a 9 and 7 year olds view of romance :)

They can be normal too :)

Here are a few of SuperDad and the super Crew that make me so proud on this Mother's Day! Gwenyth wasn't having any part of it, notice her barely there head in the bottom right image.  Titus had a stick he wasn't going to part with.  Nehemiah had just been overcome with fire ants and was on the rebound.  Emma and Addie tried their best!

The Roberts Family

I met the Roberts family one year ago.  I captured their first born Liam, when he was just 5 days old (here are those memories).  Now Liam is one.  I am always amazed by how much growth happens in one year.  Babies learn so much:  how to eat, drink, sit up, crawl, walk, & sometimes run, smile, giggle, play with toys, makes messes of all kinds, and they can even learn to babble our names.  New moms & dads learn quite a bit too:  how to live on little sleep, how to change diapers half asleep and in the dark, how to cry & laugh at the same time, how to fed, nurture, swaddle, comfort, and how to get their little person to smile at them.
Elijah and Nicole were brand new parents when we met.  I mean almost straight out of the hospital new :)  I loved getting to know them and capture their love for each other and their love for God's newest gift to them, Liam.  I was so honored when they invited me back to take Liam's one year photos!  They are wonderful parents.  Elijah and Nicole you are doing so great as a mommy and a daddy.  The evidence is written all over your son's face and his happy demeanor.  He knows you love him tremendously.  He is playful, fun-loving, and such a perfect little combo of the two of you already.
Enjoy your photos and I hope the memories you made this day will be special to you for years to come!

These were the only tears Liam shed the entire day.  They quickly turned into smiles :)

Thank you again Elijah, Nicole, and Liam. You 3 are special to me!  May God's protection be over your household this next year and may God grant you the wisdom to always stay one step ahead of your sweet son.  He is good!

~post edit~
Our first appointment was rained out limiting us to Liam's bedroom and very low light.  Here is my favorite from that quick photo shoot.  I love the feeling in the image.  Having a little one of your own is such a gift from God.
