My favorites

I love this time of year.
I love the sand & ocean as the sun sets.
I love the sounds of deep belly laughs, as the water chases my kids back up the shore.
I love rolled up sweat pants & jeans.
I love that rolled up sweat pants & jeans will still get soaked, no matter how high they are rolled up.
I love beach hair & sandy smiles
and
I love converse without feet in them.

Even more, I love the people whose feet go in them.

Baby Liam: 5 days old

This is sweet baby Liam.  He has the most wonderful first time mommy & daddy.  They simply glow.  He was just 5 days old the first time I got to meet him and he was nothing but pure, brand new, amazingness!  We had a perfect time together, except when he went pee-pee on his mommy.  If you are a mommy of a son, you know what I am talking about!  Nicole handled it in stride.
Meet this fresh gift from God.

Liam's Daddy loves motorcycles.  We had to give the helmet a try. This was his first picture.

This last one reminds me of a fun photo booth photo.  It makes me smile.

Elijah & Nicole you are wonderful!  Your teamwork, relaxed approach, and deep love for Liam make him a very blessed little man.  God hand-picked you from before the earth was formed to love and raise this little guy!  You are off to an amazing start.  I loved our time together-it was precious to me to get to hold a newborn again (and not get peed on, b/c he saved that for his mommy).

The Phillips Family

Meet the Phillips family.  I meet the Phillips family when we moved into our fixer-upper home last year.  Tom & Beth would go on walks in the evening and encourage our progress:  the new roof, the growing grass, the paint job, the driveway and the list goes on.  We were thankful for their friendliness being new in the neighborhood.
Tom & Beth just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.  I love sessions that include families with older children.  I told them they had to be on their best behavior, because I didn't bring any Tinkerbell or Star Wars fruit snacks along with me to bribe them with :)  They were bummed, but jumped right into taking photos.  We met up early in the morning, around 8am on Daylight Savings morning. 8am for college kids, is like 4 am for the rest of us :)
They didn't miss a beat, were full of energy, laughter, and smiles!
I love being with families like the Phillips family.  They are fun, easy to be around, and willing to pose like the Charlies Angels...definitely my kind of people.  Congratulations Tom & Beth, on 25 years of marriage and for raising 3 truly kind and fun children.

Thank you for the fun memories and for the chance to get to know you and your children better!
I can't imagine a better early morning photo shoot.
See you soon, walking down the sidewalk.  I just painted our front door orange...take a peek :)

Mud-Lover

This girl means business.
She is serious about her playtime.
She is having more than the time of her life.
On a daily basis, I can't get her out of the mud.
She prefers to sit right in the middle,
fully clothed,
waist deep,
in mud puddles (aka her brother's tractor ponds).

If you can still look this adorable,
while accessorizing yourself with mud ... I say, more power to you!

 This is Gwen.
She is a mud-lover and someone would do some serious damage in a staring contest.  :)

Mike & Brittney: wedding day

Mike and Brittney got married on Superbowl Sunday!  Brittney, like myself, is a Raiders fan, which leaves us both very little to cheer about.  I am so glad she and Mike tied the knot-it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday.  These two love music, love to bowl together on Sundays and have a true love for one another.  One of my favorite parts of their wedding day was listening to their best men & maid of honors give their toasts.  They shared so beautifully about their appreciation for these two and their genuine love for them as well.  Mike and Brittney you are blessed with many things: loving families, dear friends, and now all the days ahead of you as a Mr. & Mrs.
Thank you to Hugh Forte for coming along to help photograph the day.

Mike and Brittney were limited on time at their wedding site, so they opted for a first look.  Seeing each other before the ceremony, gave them a chance to be alone together before the day began moving in full swing.  These moments are always fun, romantic, and unpredictable.

Brittney you have a stunning smile. You simply light up!

Their ceremony took place at Wayfarers Chapel on the cliffs of Palos Verdes.

They did their cake cutting the right way!  Mike and Brittney-you rock...

Thank you both for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your day.  I loved being able to photograph your special day and felt pure joy as you saw each other for the first time, kiss for the first time as husband and wife, as you shoved cake in one another's faces, and as you danced the night away.  Congratulations!

Emily Ann: newborn

Emily Ann is almost 1 month old now. When we met she was just 2 weeks old.  I love how wide-eyed she was, how she yawned with her whole body, and how she pooped on her parents newly cleaned white carpet.
Only a newborn could get away with that...
when your two, that is an immediate timeout :)
Jon & Kayse have loved this little one so well already. Emily spent the better part of the first 2 weeks in the NICU.  God hears prayers and her healthy welcome home was His sweet goodness to these brand new parents.  Jon & Kayse you have a beautiful family.  You are so easy to be around and I appreciate you welcoming me into your home and lives. Kayse, motherhood suits you so well and Jon you are already so good to your two women.  God's best over you 3!

Here is a little slideshow to make you smile!
